The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Sydney on a 6 month contract. This role is responsible for end‑to‑end accounting, reporting and financial control across key balance sheet and treasury‑related areas of the Group.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will take ownership of treasury accounting, lease accounting under AASB 16, capital expenditure accounting and forecasting, as well as financial accounting for individual business units. You will be a key contributor to monthly trading packs, balance sheet integrity, intercompany accounting and FX accounting, while also supporting system improvements and broader finance projects.

This role offers exposure to senior stakeholders across Finance and the wider business, with opportunities to add value through strong commercial insight, technical accounting expertise and continuous improvement.

 

Required Skills

  • CA or CPA qualification
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, particularly AASB 16, AASB 121 and treasury‑related standards
  • Experience across financial accounting, treasury accounting and balance sheet reconciliations including but not limited to consolidation entries and credit journals
  • Proven experience with capital expenditure accounting, fixed asset registers and cash flow reporting
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
  • Strong analytical capability with high attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes within tight reporting deadlines
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

 

About You

  • You are technically strong, with the ability to interpret and apply complex accounting standards in a commercial environment
  • 2-4 years accounting experience in a medium to large organisation would be preferred but not essential
  • You are proactive and improvement‑focused, with a track record of driving efficiencies and better financial controls
  • You communicate confidently with stakeholders at different levels, including senior leadership
  • You enjoy working collaboratively within Finance and across the broader business
  • You are results‑driven, well organised and take ownership of deliverables
  • Experience in infrastructure, data centres, hosting or telecommunications is advantageous but not essential
